hello all
have an 851 that has sat sleeping for a long time....
body good, mechanicals less so...
I know you probably all like pics, so here she is;
i have the tank off and removed the fuel filter and extracted all the internal fuel hose as that has all turned to sludgey gunk.
trouble is the fuel pump is stuck fast. I have undone and removed the white plastic ring and depressed the tabs either side, that came out OK.
have detached the wires and removed the fuel level sender - also covered about 3mm thick with a bitumen like substance
that leaves the pump and the rubber mount. should i be trying to remove the whole lot in one go? or remove the pump from the rubber mount and then extract the mount?
it feels like the rubber mount has a lip that is holding it in the tank and the pump has the gauze mesh holding it in the rubber mount. been at that for more than half a day now. Grrrr.
1990 851 S3. has the early alloy tank if that makes a difference.
TIA
fred
