Greetings,
I finally got to take my new to me '91 Strada out for a ride recently and while it ran just fine, I've been left with a garage that reeks of gasoline now. My thought is that when I park the (hot) bike the engine heat soaks the tank and I get a lot of fumes out of the vent line. I didn't smell anything when I had the (cold) bike stored in my basement. However that was with the original tank, which I replaced along with most of the fuel lines. I can't see where I would have gone wrong with routing the lines, I've checked the various posts/diagrams and don't see any errors. And I did install new heat shield material on the bottom of the tank just like the original. Airbox is the stock set up, no mods.
I have a hard time believing this is normal but I don't see where I went wrong. For now I'll let it cool down outside before putting it away but something's not right here. I'm even considering figuring out where to install a charcoal filter on it!
And now after typing all this it occurs to me I should take a closer look under the tank to make sure it's not pooling gas on the bike somewhere without dripping onto the floor...

Looks like you are correct. When I looked under the tank, the return line hadn't sealed. Gas soaked into the heat shield, which finally dripped and proved there was a leak. I didn't see anything earlier but it was obvious when I got home from work today.
