But sorry, I was flat out like a lizard drinkin' at the time I posted the article and just rushed off without giving any real info on the article.
The article details the trials and tribulations of Tim Wild and the Hobbsport team as they take a road going 851 SP2 that is "slow, heavy and handles like a pig on stilts" and develop it into a competitive BSB racer.
How quick was it? When they start saying things like "Everything starts lighting up at ten. lt holds on for another 4,000 revs after that but it's better to shift at 13,200." it kinda gets your attention!
There are some good tips too:
- use alloy bolts to secure the rearsets on the early style frame so the rearsets break off rather than bending the rearset hanger plates
- use GL1500 (Goldwing) fork seals to replace the leak prone Ohlins fork seals
- suspension/geometry info
It's worth a read, and how good would the front cover shot look in poster form on the shed wall?!
