I recently ordered some Termi slip-ons for my 851 and will now need a chip to suit. No other mods to the bike aside from the open pipes.
I'll likely order one from Fast By Ferracci in the next week or so unless I find there's a more suitable source in the USA??? It seems the places I remember from back in the day are now gone or no longer listing them. I don't know anyone in the area (SE Michigan) doing/capable of doing a custom chip and for the use this bike will see that's likely overkill anyway.

doug lofgren should be able to supply one.

When I was Googling this stuff the trail for him kind of went cold after Minneapolis... but I just sent him an email so we'll see what he says.
Thanks

Hmm... I think I offended him by asking about a stock bike. Was told he's never done one for a stock bike, ever. And I need to find a different source.
Alrighty then, FbF it is.

Try JHP/Ducati Coventry in the UK, John Hackett ( as in John Hackett Performance) can supply the standard map +5% chip that you need.
The chips he can supply are very close to "Spot on", certainly good enough for what you want IME.
I understand where Doug's coming from here, a full custom map is the best way to go. But John Hackett's maps are pretty close.
He burnt me a couple of base line chips to my motors spec and the one I used was only 2 rwbhp short of my full custom map after a day on the dyno.

the ducati one is 008B. it's 009B (the original eprom) with 6% added to the air temp trim.
well, if you are asking for an eprom for a stock bike then you mean as it left the factory. if you want an eprom to suit termi mufflers then you ask for an eprom to suit 851 with termi mufflers. leave the word stock out of it. people use that term when asking me for stuff too, and i have to ask them questions to clarify that it's not "stock", and find out exactly what it is about the bike that is not "stock". it's really annoying, but a common misuse of a term.
like the people who won't tell you they have an s4 monster because they think "916" sounds more manly. and then you supply them the wrong parts. or the st4s guys who just have to make sure you know it's the st with the big engine.
you need to be specific and to the point.
like i haven't.

FBF has my money now and owes me a Stage 1 EPROM, so I'm good there.
As for what I asked for, I wrote (and yes this is a literal quote) "I'm looking for an EPROM for a 1991 851 Strada with no mods other than a set of Termi slip ons. Airbox will be left stock, for now anyway". So yeah, I mentioned a stock AIRBOX but not a stock BIKE. His reply was he hasn't "done a new chip cal for a stock bike, ever". So that's where the stock bike comment came from, not me.
I doubt he was actually offended, I just thought his reply was kind of funny in a "quit bugging me" sort of way.
D'oh! And now I just re-read my third post here and in that I DO say I asked about a stock bike. Oops. I didn't.
Whatever. I dragged out some old FBF catalogs, found the description of the chips (what "Stage 1" means mainly) and ordered one.
