After the first ride...

Restoration is over and after the first ride I have small things to fix:
- The speedometer is not correct: for sure the speed i see is much higher than the real one. what can it be? isn't it mechanical?
- sometimes during deceleration (no brakes, just gas off) I hear bursts from exhaust... this should be easier to fix
- Last one: I find it very hard to go from second to first gear. Is it normal with a new clutch?

Any suggestion (especially on the first point)?

1: be sure to confirm speedo reading with some body in another vehicle. Speed can be deceptive. If it is the wrong possibly the wrong speedo drive on the front wheel.
2: leaning out on over run. Needs a touch more fuel.
3: check clutch travel, it should be around 3ish mm. Could be air in the line. Other cause is incorrect selector alignment. Use 3 rd gear and set the selector fork exactly in the middle of the pins on the selector drum. (Alternator cover has to come off.)

while I had an idea of what to check for my 2nd and 3rd points, I was unsure about the speedo... being mechanical I thought it was ok...
Honestly I did not check it carefully, I just used the old one assuming it was ok.

If the speedo drive is the right one with the right ratio and the speedo is indicating it should be ok. If the speedo is dodgy then it would read under rather than over. They are a magnetic coupling. Hard to get it to read over.
