MONTY Diesel wrotethe silver frame edition......Well, it could be 888SPS number 061 that was sold in Rome about 10 years ago. That one had the frame replaced from new at the factory with a '93 racing frame. The racing frame isn't quite silver, but certainly not white. That was a nice bike. Could this be it?
MONTY lakeman wrotebut the tank,It should be carbon or am I wrong???Looks like the original carbon tank to me. You can see the fuel petcocks in front of the frame tubes and the black rubber ties holding the front. It doesn't have a carbon fuel cap, but they never did from the factory.
jarno888sps Diesel wrotethe silver frame edition......Very rare!... 😉 So is it an SP5 that looks like an SPS or an SPS that looks like an SP5? 😳 Frame # please!?
jarno888sps lakeman wrotebut the tank,It should be carbon or am I wrong???He has a spare SP5 tank according to google translate...😎 My Swedish isn't that good! LOL Tank in the picture looks like the carbon one with the 2 rubber straps!
Millihaff The frame number is ZDM888S001280 It where imported to sweden in june 2007 (It's not my bike and the information about the framenumber are official here in sweden)
Hailwoodreplica Some more info In the advert he wrote that the frame has been modified too an racingframe by professionals (dont know who) and also painted in racing colours. The bike has Öhlins suspension and it should be an carbon tank with race straps (dont know the right word for it) in the picture. 888 race exaust cans and footrest. The picture showing original footrests. It´s only been driven 1000 km in the last 10 years. it also have 888 racing carbon airbox (correct word)? I don´t know anything about the seller or the bike, just translate the advert.... I must apologise too the forum and the owner of the bike. I translate /wrote that the bike is an "sp4 with race engine" The seller has contacted me after reading this tread and pointed out that this is an misunderstanding/fault by me. The bike is a real SPS and he has confirmation from the factory that the numbers are SPS. This is a misunderstanding from me and i am sorry for any inconvenience that i made by this. Regards Leif

And how do you know the frame was replaced at the factory?
MONTY I have that information because it was listed on ebay.it at the time about 10 years ago. It had a BIN price of 12500EURO but no one was interested because the frame looked like a 1993 SP5 frame. The seller emailed me a copy of a letter from the factory authenticating the frame and engine numbers. The frame was a 93 888 racing frame requested by the original owner from the factory and stamped at the factory with the original SPS number. The SPS frame was kept by the factory. When I went to press the BIN button it was already sold. I was not happy........ I had kept pics of the bike and of the document, which listed the frame and engine number, but all was lost in the great computer crash of 2010. Even less happy......☹️

Would have been nice with that document😄 Strange the seller didn't provide that document to the guy from Sweden that bought in 2007.. Thanks a lot for the info anyway! Cheers Patrick
tepahe Tack! 😄 And thanks a lot for your help and advice regarding which 888 to choose. 😄 Cheers Patrick
MONTY Cheers Patrick. After the bike had been sold, I asked the seller what he thought of the bike. At the time he also had a SP3 and was selling off parts like fg9050 forks. He didn't hesitate to say it was a great bike and he wished he could keep it. I wish I could have bought it! Also, the document he had was a confirming document from the ducati factory that he had requested and which you can ask for today. The documents where not the original purchasing paper or registration papers, just authenticating paper from the factory. I hope the bike is still in excellent condition as it appeared to be back then. And if you ever what to sell, give me a ping......😎
tepahe Hi Monty! Thank you again for the information, it has been really valuable to me of course. It's almost unfair you missed out on this bike for the second time after almost ten years. I will contact you if I decide to sell. The bike is in good original condition even though you can see that it's been used. Cheers Patrick
