SMP FORGED ALU - What do i got here ?

Got hold of these very nice forged alu wheels, the seem to fint right on both ends, incl spedo drive. (from a 900SL 93 i was informed)
(Finish Anodized satin black)

The only text on them says , SMP FORGED ALU and then the sizes... 17-3.5/5.5
I cant find any thing w google wrt SMP as manufacture, only thing close is SM Pro Wheels in the UK... but the do not seem to have anything of this nature ...

Any one can recon these, the SMP brand or have seen them before ? what do i got ?

The brake/sprocket carriers look identical to my Carrozzerria wheels. The spokes are not the same though.

Hi Marvin.. you are right, both sides of rear wheel looks the the same ... same company ?

I have two sets of those Carrozzeria's. the other set has a different design on the brake rotor carrier but the sprocket carrier/cush drive is identical to my other set and yours. If I'm not mistaking I think the Carrozzeria's were initially made in Japan. My guess is yours were made in Japan by the same company but that's only a guess.

yeh i think Hipoint was what they were called before carrozzeria.yours should have hipoint written on them like this photo

I see some connection between HI Point and Carrozzeria.. wheels seem quite limited in population

Really nice wheels but do watch those cush bobbins. Of course mine are under a heavy load with the Testastretta engine.
