Best tank pad for 851

Hi Folks. What is the best tank pad for my 89 851 S3? I was hoping for something clear so I can see the lovely original paint.

Most of the clear ones in the thick type plastic will inevitably end up with air underneath them creating bubbles which look unsightly.
I've seen them applied complete with a fingerprint in them too!
I'd go for some contact adhesive sheet applied with a hair dryer or better still dont wear a jacket with an exposed zip or belt buckle.

Makes sense. Problem is my jacket still dulls the duco. No zips.

Just keep applying wax when it dulls. I don't have a tank pad because they spoil the look of the bike, so just am very careful re zips and keep waxing regularly!

3M Paint Protection Film. If applied properly you cant see it, I could send you a photo but no point. These guys used to do 851/888 tank and leading edge of fairings. http://www.ozishield.com.au/

Try kitchen shelf lining - Fablon

I've used a thin plastic sheet product for some years now called Fablon that's clear, sticky on one side, and can be safely removed without removing the paint.

You can cut it to size easily, and if some care is taken, can be applied air bubble free. I used templates taken from the bodywork so its symmetric on both sides.

Exactly what was fitted to my 851 tank but I gently peeled it off to have the tank repainted and can not decide what adhesive to use to refix it on my shiny new paintwork.

Would be grateful for any advice.

I think I have the same on my SP3, but they're definitely looking a bit rough round the edges. Did you fit yours recently, or are they the originals?
