The Ducati factory keeps detailed records of frame, engine and plaque numbers for all their production bikes. For sure. But what they cannot do, I think, is claim that plaque number 001 was the first bike, 002 the second.....035 the thirty-third....etc.
If your cat gave birth to eight kittens, you would know they're her kittens alright, but you wouldn't know which was born first, which was born second and so on. Likewise, bikes are born in batches.
Psychologically, owning 001 is a big attraction but in reality the bike could have been assembled in any order.
The bike offered in this thread looks to be a real Frankenstein.
