Mr.R Thanks for that Bill I enjoyed reading that again. I remember sitting in the grand stand with my mates at Brands Hatch, when Dave Croxford rode the Norton Cosworth, it retired when the gear lever fell off. The race effort had been partly paid for by selling shares in the bike to British bike loving enthusiasts, like my mate sat beside me that day who owned a Mk2A Commando, he laughed out loud when the reason for the bikes retirement was announced, saying that's my f'kin £5 that bounced down the track, whilst waving his share certificate. 😄 Back then it was being raced against TZ750's, Suzuki TR750's , Kawasaki H2R's and various other bikes. It was thought/found to be too heavy and under powered as a carbed 750. It never put out the power that Norton had hoped for. Steve R
brad black 115hp from a 750 twin is 749r territory. funny how configuration can make such a difference. great story though. would have been great fun.
Mr.R I'm fairly sure that it never made as much as 115 when it was with Norton, they'd hoped for that much as it was basically 2 cylinders from a Cosworth F1 3000cc motor, but it didn't happen. The Quantrel Cosworth had a lot more development and a bigger capacity. Steve R
