Ohlins FG9050 complete restoration

Hi,

For my pleasure and because i'm a passionnate that love the perfects parts, I'm restoring my FG9050.

Inside and outside. Full service, seals and oil, anodising of the outside parts, machining of new caps in aluminium. With respect of the original colors and surfaces finish, and the respect of the fork operation.

The fork partially dissasembled and in restoration.

Legs marked by the time.

But I have to admit I am kind of conflicted in my feelings: as much as it's nice to look at something perfect there is also something quite attractive about the patina of an "experienced" bike. Of course once you have one area of the bike looking perfect everything else looks crap and therein starts the ride down the slippery slope, haha.

In comparison with a stock FG9031, you can see that the end of the outer tubes have the same color.
Of course, the 9050's tube are more shining as the "old" 9031 that have more time in the socks (rain, wind and solar attacks).

When you put an old fork in a "new" bike, it can't be good.
I love the old original bikes in a perfect state.
Scratches are welcome but underneath the paint 😁

rich gold is a tipycal gold for the ohlins,but,every farm has got a "personal" mixture for the gold.
gold,light gold,rich gold,platinum,yellow.
change the name but can be the same color.

pay attention:
in anodising didin't use the ral.

take your outer tube before,check the color with the man,and disanodizing the tube,polish and do the color 😉
