Hi,
I recently bought a '93 888. I bought it from a Ducati dealer which prepared it (charged battery). I have rode a few times around my block (don't have the number plates yet).
Last time I want to start it the battery was dead so I charged it and when I tried to start the bike the engine when straight to full revs. tried again and it did the same, straight to red line. I have checked some potential the mechanical potential issues (throttle cable) but all seems ok.
Did anyone of you experienced this before or any ideas what it potentially can be?
Thanks in advance for your help!

There is a lot of pipes and wires just where the rod that connects the two throttle bodies are - double-check that the butterflies are closing properly on throttle-off, and none of those pipes are fouling the movement preventing a full closure of the butterflies.
Also make sure you've got a few degrees of slack on the twistgrip so that the tension of the throttle cable definately isn't an issue.

+1 on that advice, somethings getting caught up somewhere.
It happened to me once when the 916 linkage rod (that I was using) adjuster caught on the underside of the 851 airbox.
I still can't believe how fast I hit the kill button as everything in my workshop shook around me, there were things falling off the shelves.

Thanks guys for the tips. I will make those checks and hopefully one of those will sort things out!!
I also hit the kill button in nanoseconds when this first happened!!

Also known of rubber tank mount grommets falling into throttle bodies and holding butterflies open.

How about a couple of minutes to flip up the tank, remove the airbox lid and air filter and check that the throttle butterflies are closing with the twistgrip? (see below). Should be a quick check.

thanks Claire4dukes & NCR 900. Will try out next weekend since I'm not home this week. Will share at the end what it was once I eventually find it!
