My friend sold his prized possession today. As the planning for the sale went on I have been inspired to get to work cleaning up my 851 Kit....and that progresses quite well for now.
But the day came today as we watched the beautiful red bike hit the auction floor.....We were jumping up and down screaming when it went past $300K. This is a record amount for a Vincent in the US we are told! Honored to have helped with some of the work and fettling (that's what you do on old bikes) over the years. Even got to ride it on several occasions, including right before we shipped off to Las Vegas for the auction. I am going to miss staring at it in my friends garage while we drank his really good Scotch.....ah well, there are a couple more old and esoteric projects in the corners yet to finish.....and I bet he can afford even better Scotch now!
