Seat pads - Racing foam

Does any one have a close up foto of the 91 racing seat pads, ref picture ?... specially the back side is of interest

I belive they are made with foam w skin on the mold side ? (ref the Orginal bump pcs from 93/94)
Picture of the main seat pad matching this rear bump ?

Thinking of a possible reproduction for a few sets of these .. Any expertice w this type of foam materials ?

Hi Henk, thanks for fotos.. Main pad looks like it has same outershape like the SP5/SPO pad ?
Overmolded plastic base with PUR foam .
Will try to find a source for the foam material/process

I did get the recent ones, happy to take some photo's if required, I'm sure the underside of the seat has no fastenings set into it, so not the same as the one Henk has posted.

Just let me know, I could sort tomorrow

I have never seen a bolt on pad on a Corse- not saying they were not used. Every year Corse I own has some form of a glue-on pad-- the early OEM style pads have a slick surface--your is of this style-- and the later OEM style pads were uniform grey dense foam without a slick surface. I have seen the early in many different heights. The later styles seem to have about the same thickness but came in many different shapes- from simple flat to those which curve down the side of the seat.

Outline of Race Pad

Hi Guys

No progress on a the second go at reproduction / foam cast of the race pads due to time ... some of you have asked for dimensions of the org Race Pad ... Pictures attached.. w Outline and X/Y dimensions for possible scaling.

Thickness 30mm mid section... 34mm at the edges...
(surface facing your rear end is FLAT... surface facing the tail is slightly curved, hence the difference in thickness)

I had a new OEM seat pad like the one in your picture but I sold it a few years back to someone on this Forum, don't remember who. It was black/dark grey foam with a slick finish.

The slick finish/closed cell pads are waaaay better for keeping your arse dry in damp conditions.

Found one... main seat pad 59510201A

Found a NOS bolt on main foam seat matching the rear foam pad ... Bottom side looks like the SP4/5 mono seat version / W plastic molded base, but this is overmolded with foam-closed cell/skin surface... (like Henk's)

Number says 59510201A but can find that in any sparepart catalogs, incl R93 and R94 ... seem to be a non excisting part...

It's the reference of the SP4 seat pad, and probably the same for SP5.

It would probably make sense for Ducati to ask a supplier to use their existing seat base part. To put that in a tool and back inject the foam onto it. Most companies would have then created another number to avoid confusion.............but we are talking about Ducati in the late 80,s early 90,s. With all the quality controls we have today it would not have passed PPAP (Production parts approval process) and another number would need to be added on top to cover the old number to pass.

Baba.. you are right, never looked at Sp4/sp5 lists as i knew it was NOT from those...😏

Paul.. I think you are right... They most like had some foam versions made based on parts from the sp4/Sp5 parts bin... hence same number...

Ill use it on the 93R project, correct or not.

If you look on the page with that part number, you will see "Discontinued part"
For some reason Ducati still has all of the part numbers from the old bike in their parts database, but they don't have any of them in stock anymore. I would be very surprised if they had this part. I tried ordering simple things like fairing hardware and other fasteners, and all of it was no longer available. Many of the parts that I tried to order for my Desmosedici are NLA and that bike is from 2006.
No USA dealership even has the capability of looking up parts for an SP3. It is not in the electronic parts catalogue, and I could not find one dealer that had an SP3 parts microfiche.
