duck2 wroteThanks for the replies lads, but as you can see there's still conflicting info pre or post it's still the same colour code but a different name!
I'll strip the bodywork of and if I can find what appears to be a original colour and get it scaned to see if it throws up a original code match!
Thanks again marty!
Hi Marty,
Yes, I think that is the case with "color match". I had my original scanned and got a PPG formula but it was too orange and I had to tweek it. It now matches the original '92 color and a SP4 side panel that I have, and a friends '93 SPO. Then I saw another friends "93 SPO and his was much darker. Bottom line, no two Ducati's are the same IMHO. You will have to have someone tweek it to your liking. Some say that the "trick" is to tint the primer to a pink color. IMHO that is just a production "trick". It is easier to cover and one can probably get by with one less coat. The Ducati red is opaque and I don't think the pink primer makes any difference at all if you put enough paint on.
Here is my formula that I had to alter. I also have a friends formula for DuPont paint if you want me to scan and PM it to you. (His is a 1990 Mazda color).
Best,
Marvin
P.S. Good luck! Let us know if you hit on something.
