Hey Guys,
It would be good if everyone filled out their profiles. At least put in what country you are from. The Forum is getting large now (578 members) and it's hard to keep track of everyone. We don't need your street addy and phone number but it helps put things in perspective if we all know where you are from.

I am new to the list, but I did all that to start with. And I corrected the link to my web page. It is funny, I have already met three guys on the list, two in the UK and one in Brisbane and they know people I know from the Bevelheads list. And there are other Bevel owners as well as 851/888 owners on this list. I just got my 851, still in the shop getting serviced. I got an early '90 851 so it's got the early keepers, and this list let me know that the early one's had stainless steel keepers. I can't wait to get it back out of the shop. Tom Rolland

I'd also like to add to Marvin's request could everyone please include their given name, I find it more than a bit impersonal when I reply to a web handle.
Over the years I've found out that Ripper's name is Tom and Loonies name is Paul...
But it took time whereas it was bloody easy finding out Marvin, Brad, Phil911 (or is that 911Phil?) or Griff's name and Steve R has obviously given away my 1st name.
At the end of the day as far as I can see we're just a bunch of anora...sorry enthusiasts with info to share and 1st names can't hurt anyone, but they can breakdown the impersonal barrier as far as I can see.
I always use my web handle (given to me by a very dear old friend) but also always sign off with my 1st name.

I've just had a chat with Brad, he's finally cottoned on to Angie's plan to build her own UN council and take control of the world, so hes packing it in and going riding. So Angie's and the 6 nippers are up for grabs. John's is a wise man to stay the hell away from there.

Phil, you have ruined my day!😁 In 3 weeks I have to go to the motor show and man the Ducati stand and hopefully watch couple of those do laps. They better be at least as "well tuned" or I'm going to complain to someone about Europe getting all the good parts.😏

We seem to be getting 1 or 2 requests for membership every day. I'm at the point where I won't be changing your membership from "waiting Moderation' to "Registered Users" unless you fill out your profiles a bit more. If you can't even put your real name in the "spot" for it screw you!
About half of the requests are from obvious spammers!

For NEW MEMBERS.
If you don't have time to fill out your profiles, put in a addy as your real name like "buy my porno now.com", don't even state where you're from, and not in the correct time zone, etc. It shows me that you are not serious about joining. Good luck getting in!

Hi guys

My name is Andrew, 34 years old, from Auckland, New Zealand, but I'm doing a few years in the mines / oil / gas in Western Australia as an electrician before going back home to "retire". Currently building the Gorgon LNG plant ( google it ) on Barrow Island on the north west coast of Australia for Chevron - USD$43 Billion worth!! Previously did the LNG storage tanks at Woodside's Pluto LNG plant in Karratha, built crushers and overland conveyors for BHP iron ore at Yandi, HV switchyard extension for BHP at Newman, did a new copper and gold mine processing plant in the middle of the desert in South Australia, worked at BHP nickle mine at Ravensthorpe and their Nickel refinery in Perth, and a few other shutdown / short contract jobs around the place ( Telfer, Koolan Island, Hunter Valley ), in between major projects. I'm also a trade qualified toolmaker and machinist. Anyway enough about that.

I have just purchased SP3 #132 😁 , which was previously owned by Firefly_1965 on here, and someone else on here who he bought it off. I think Firefly_1965 sold it to www.madeinitalymotorcycles.com as that is where the dealer / importer I bought it off got it from. It's still in England, so once it's had a nice cruise on the water from England to Perth, I should hopefully have it in time for Christmas. It'll be kept company by a '92 900 SS ( red / white frame / black wheels, with 10,978 km on it ), and 2 Honda CBR1000RR's. Then I'll take them all home with me to NZ when I go in a few years time 😄

I've never seen an 851 / 888 in the flesh, but I've always loved their look, along with the carbed 900 SS. Those 2 series of bikes just have such a magical timeless look to them, and I'm very lucky to have 1 of each. I love the white frame / black wheel bikes.

I managed to pick up a set of Termi carbon slip-ons the other week. Brand new, never been fitted to a bike, came with heaps of free showroom dust😁 . They are the rough carbon ones, and the end bands are slotted, not solid. They were part of the stock when the motorcycle shop changed owners some years back, and the guys there didn't know what they were for, and there were no hanger brackets. I saw a guy on here selling a set exactly the same a couple of weeks ago, and an original alloy set ( A08, B08 ) and someone said they also fit 900 SS's. So I went and made the shop an offer, and walked out the door with them under my arm for AUD$400 cash 😁 I got a set of 851 hangers from Ducparts-de, but they don't fit the 900, so it looks like the Termis may go on the SP3, what a shame that'll be.......

A couple of questions about originallity if I may. Did SP3's have the lower hugger that bolts to the bottom of the swingarm? I see them advertised for 851/888, but is that Strada's only or SP's as well?? Every pic I've seen doesn't have it, except for that one for sale in the US ( SP3 in US thread )from that old guy selling his collection. His has that lower hugger fitted.

Also did SP3's originally come with the rubber edging on the windscreen? Some have it some don't? Mine doesn't have it, but I think they look better with it - where can I get the correct edging??

I'm excited like a fat kid at the candy store waiting for this bike!!!

Lower rear hugger was not originally supplied with any of the Strada or SP models though it may have been supplied with 'customer Corse' bikes...not sure.

Congrats on your new addition and welcome. Answers I can give from ownership of an as-new example are:

- no lower hugger and I've never seen any others with one either (whatever that's worth)
- screen edging was/is on mine. again, not seen another without.
- source for edging? I'll measure it up and see what I can find. Might take a few days before I get to it.
- lots of pics upon arrival!

Just a quick post to say hello.

I have recently got my interest back for Ducatis after being distracted with race rep two strokes for a few years.

I always wanted an 888 back in the day but they were a bit rich for me so 20 years on I have got the chance to live the dream.

I picked up a near mint 10k miles 94 Strada. This looks and is as fresh as the day it left the factory. I was actualy looking for and SP4 or 5 but couldnt pass the Strada up as it is so original.

I have also just bought a late 851 which looks quite nice but havnt picked it up yet. This I have plans for as I want a track only bike and like race replicas, so this may be the basis for that project. It can keep the Lawson, Spencer, and Roberts reps company in the garage.
