I "bought" this tyre on eBay. I have previously emailed the seller ( Nick_Will13 ) and received a reply from Helen. Since I bought the tyre, they have not replied to my repeated requests for an invoice including shipping etc, and another tyre Helen said they have which I wish to buy.

Does anyone know who this Nick Will ( Wilson? ) or Helen might be, and how to contact them outside eBay?

After I "bought" they tyre, they listed it again, as they have more than one, so they are still around, somewhere.

Please tell me your not contemplating putting that tyre on your SP and riding it, granted it was original fitment and may be a nice to have stored away but tyre technology has moved on these past 25 years..

Back in the day they had good grip but let go without any warning - widow maker tag was used many times!!

No, only on a spare set of wheels for shows.

In a word, no. 🙁

The bike is still sitting as a frame-off strip-down in boxes. I have managed to track down most of the parts I need, but still struggling to find someone to fix the fork tubes ( the gold tubes held in the triple clamps ) or make me new ones, and of course finding decent original mufflers is always a problem. Apart from that I have to track down some bolts second hand that are NLA new, and a few other things, fuses, blank plug for the front brake splitter, correct 3 piece set of front brake hoses etc etc.

I've spent the last 6 weeks on and off, with the help of 2 litres of paint stripper, stripping the powder coating off the frame which the local ( self proclaimed ) specialist motorcycle powder-coaters made a complete shambles of. It was amazing how on most of the outside parts of the frame, the powder was so thick the paint stripper wouldn't penetrate it, and I had to use a file to file away the powder coating almost to the steel before the paint stripper would work, yet on the inside of the frame, the powder coating was so thin just the fumes from the paint stripper had the powder coating melting off. Combined with all the grit and dust in it, it was far from acceptable, so it all came off. What a prick of a job. I'll never powder coat a frame again.

I am currently cleaning up the swing arm so I can get it re-anodised. I had to get the anodising stripped off so it could be repaired properly from where the sprocket nuts had chewed the side out of it and someone had "fixed" it with epoxy resin. There are pics of the swing arm before and after repair in the "Previously unloved SP3" thread.

I got the engine checked the other day, 5 of the 8 rocker shims were miles out and had to be changed, the "new" belts looked like they'd done the Suzuka 24 hour race, there were no rocker cover or camshaft cover gaskets fitted, and the spark plugs were the wrong type ( and 18mm ). All on a bike that had "just been serviced, nothing to do but buy and ride off into the sunset".

So I'm getting there. Slowly.

OK, so I "bought" the rear tyre from this turkey on September 10, and the front on October 3. He's saying now ( after how long? ) that he can't send me an invoice on eBay cos it won't let him. He wants to send me an invoice on Paypal. I gave him my email address to do that more than a week ago. He says I can trust him and he'll give me a tracking number. Right.............

If anyone lives near Dewsbury, or goes past there, I will pay your petrol / time etc if you can pick the tyres up from this guy. I will send you the money first on Paypal, so when you receive the money from me you can go to the guys' house and pay him cash and walk away with the 2 tyres, and then post them to me later. I just don't trust the guy, and can't afford to drop over 200 Pounds ( 69.99 + 59.99 tyres + 84 shipping ) on his "trust me, I'll look after you", when he can't even send me an invoice or reply to an email.
