griff851 Today was stick an aermacchi head in the oven to punch out some valve guides. Much apprehension as last time i stuck a head in the oven it took a couple of hours to remove the stink from the wifes rather trendy and expensive kitchen unit. But low and behold on the side of the road was a mighty Kleenmaid TO300X. So i grabbed it in peak traffic and brought it home. By magic it still worked. Now i can do heads and cases and souffle in the comfort of the shed. Bloody light doesnt work but. Lucky i have a hat with lights on it.:-)
Marcoboxer Was anyone else imagining a 'Doc Brown' Back to the Future type character while reading this? Hat with lights on, cooking cylinder heads, there's gotta be some good pictures to go with this story Griff.
NCR900 Ducati kitchens I used to regularly heat crank-cases in ovens and put bearings in freezers to change bearings, and heat 900SS barrels in the oven until they dropped off the liners. What stopped all that was when I was soaking a chain in a tin of Duckhams 'Linklyfe' liquid grease on the stovetop and the tin split. A litre of solidified moly-disulphide liquid grease cooled over an oven top does NOT please the wife....... PS; When she's out for the day, the dishwasher is great for cleaning plastic parts!
mikesps I use the old gas barbecue for bearing changes. Easy to get the cases in and out, and nowhere near the kitchen.
