EEPROM - Std. 1989 851

I've replaced my race cans with Standards ones. The bike appears to be running rich. So I'm after a std. EEPROM for a 851. Does anyone have any numbers or info that appears on the EEPROM itself.

I need to check to see if my current one is a std one or modified.

As listed from my "Ducati with IAW" sheet from April, 1993:

EEPROM's for '89/90/91

STR. USA: 014U
STR. CH: 014S
STRADA: 009B
STARDA "without airfilter and silencer bottoms": 008B

1989 S.P.: 010, 011, 012, 013 (0, -3%, +3%, +5%)

Slightly modified 009B's available at the time from myself, Ferracci and others seemed to work best.....we all fixed the "dip" in the fuel curve.

I have a bit of a problem with my 89 Strada - again standard airbox and silencers.
It feels erratic on a steady throttle a low revs (through 30 limits etc) but runs OK otherwise and after reading your thread I decided to check inside my ECU - the chip I have is marked Ferraci 008 - 8346 and also has the number 888319 on it so wondered if this could be the problem. I have set the TPS and balanced the throttle bodies without any improvement so would like to try a standard chip to see if it makes a difference.

Does anyone know if the standard chips are available and also whether the Ferraci chip that I have is suitable for a standard 851?

Sorry, saw this a bit late.....

Normally everyone would number their chip in relation to the stock chip it was based on.

The stock 008B from Ducati is listed as: "851 Strada 89/90/91 without airfilter and without silencer bottoms"

Usually the mod was to fix the emissions dip, increase fuel in general and/or maybe raise the rev limit trying to match more efficient mods than originally intended. Of course, many more changes were possible given good measured data off a Dyno or live instrumentation.....fuel phase, ignition advance, more detailed fuel curves, changes in RPM break points, Altitude or voltage comp....etc.

I would assume that the 008 based chip wouldn't be your best choice with standard pipes and airfilter.

A stock 009B or better yet a quality basic 009 based mod (FIM, FBF,...etc. they were all close to the same within a few bits...I'm sure that was just a coincidence...a bit of a compliment i guess to those of us who got there first!....ahem)

008b and 009b are identical except for the 008b having 6% added to the ambient air temp trims, so it's 6% richer if the idle trimmer is left as it was. if you adjusted the idle trimmer to have the mixture the same, it'll vary from 0% different at low throttle to maybe 4% richer at wot.

the b bit means it has the starter clutch saving software changes. 008/009 were the originals.

Just to tag on to this, I now own the original bike in question and it has a 008b chip installed. This is fine in theory as it's got the cut airbox lid and I'm going back to open pipes, so should be all good.

Thing is, before I stripped it down I had a couple of rides and the rev limiter kicked in at 8k, and I thought it should be 10k as standard. It was quite a sharp cut off too. Has anyone seen this before?

Googled it and read on another forum it could be reg/rec related? His 851 would stutter at 7k and thats what it was, felt like a limiter coming in.

I only rode the bike a couple of times so never tried to push it past or hold it there.
