Hi, The battery on my 1993 Ducati 888 strada has packed in again. I have read a lot of good things about the ODYSSEY PC680 Battery. Before I order one wanted to check will it fit the battery box without any modification?
Thanks, David

Me too. I just ordered one for my 851. I'll start project soon enough. I'm told you just get some foam and do your best to pack in n. HOWEVER, any detail;s with be great. I will start this around June 23rd.

Hi David, just a quick question. Did you get the battery and does it fit ok?
My battery needs replacing and want to know of a better option?

Odyysey Battery
I've used these batteries for a few years now, and they are absolutely superb. Used on a BMW R1150GS left outside overnight in below freezing temperatures and snowfall, starting was always first time, with much, much better cold cranking than a lead acid battery. When the bike developed an ignition fault and I had to keep cranking the bike at the roadside to try and start it, it lasted about five times longer than a normal battery. Expensive, but worth every penny. It's a pity you're the other end of the country to me as I have a spare one in my garage that you could have tried!

Cheers bro. Thanks for the info. I've decided to go lithium now so I'm gonna try that avenue. They are supposed to be 2 kilos lighter too so that means 3 months less gym membership! I've got a few bikes that I've got to get batteries for now so will be hunting down some light and small options. Thanks again for your info!

2-3kgs less meant you need to up your gym attendance/membership! Remember no pain no gain!
The less you do the less you get back!

Just my tuppence worth...
I fitted my 1st Hawker Odyssey PC545 well over 10 years ago now (after 7 or so years I fitted another one because I thought it was getting tired, but it turned out to be a premature failure of the starter sprag!) because it was smaller, lighter than the PC680 and it was recommended by a fellow DOCGB member, who'd had one on his 888cc SP3 for many years without any problems.
TBH I can't fault it apart from the excessive weight, but it's still waaaay lighter than a PC680!!!
To that end I've bought a Balistic lithium battery to fit when I get around to it or when it's needed and when I make up a new smaller battery crate for it.
The Balistic weighs just over 2lbs and it's not much bigger than my fist.
For any 851/888 you won't go far wrong with a PC545, my tuned 916cc 851 always starts on the button despite have a tuned motor with 11-1 comp' ratio and advanced inlet cams.
