851 Tricolore screen from Down Under

Dear All,

12 months after the 851 Kit fell off the stand at Alford's GTM Motorcycle Cavalcade I've finally sourced a supply for replacement screens, although deplete of the wee Cagiva elephant they are as good as the real thing, see details below.
Now, if only the BSB riders would stop their damn crashing Bike Paints of Cupar will get round to repairing the nose cone and side panel and the Kit can rejoin its siblings in the Garden Room.

Certainly nearly as thick as your skin Steven at 2.15mm thick 😏. All in all a very good deal around £170 for a pair of screens landed from the other side of the world highly recommended.

851 Tricolore screen from the Southern Hemisphere thickness & MTB World Champs.

Dear Steve R.,

I can confirm that the Down Under screen measures the same as that fitted to my Lucchi. Rep. and Tricolore Strada, pity copyright rules prevents the inclusion of Cagiva’s wee elephant. The Strada screen will therefore be elevated to the Kit with the pattern fitted to the Strada.
At least when the music stops each of the three will be complete with screen.

I did contact Mandy Heibor, Stein Dinse, as suggested by one Forum member, but the first screen sent did not fit the Tricolore however I kept it as it did the 888.
Screen No. 2, labelled “851 BJ 1989 1991”, fitted neither the Tricolore or the 888.
So it seems there are three screen variations for the 851, that for the 1988 Tricolore (which also fits the 851 Kit and Lucchinelli Rep.), 1989 – 1991 model (my screen No. 2) and for 1991 on which fits the 888.
I intend to return screen No. 2 however if anyone on the Forum requires a spare for a ’89 – ’91 851 give me a shout.

Next jobbie is to prepare push bikes for this weekend’s World 24hr. Solo MTB Champs. at Anoch Mhor near Fort William. Mechanic to three riders, nephew William Duguid and Rob Smith of the Royal Marines and Mr. Sideburns himself, a chappie called Guy Martin.
Last time out in January’s Strathpuffer Guy was placed 2nd. with 30 laps with Willie a creditable 15th. in only his second 24hr. race.
Bear in mind each lap is 11km with 1200ft. elevation and January’s weather in Northern Scotland can be rather inclement, if not damn near “white out”, with only around 6hrs. useable daylight at best.
The Strathpuffer is listed as one of THE toughest 24hr. MTB races in the World and a finish earns respect on any budding MTB racer’s CV. Needless to say the terrain breaks bikes, hearts and minds.

I'm not in the market for a new screen at the moment, but I've put your link into my favourite list for future reference/possible use in the future.
In the past I've had a couple of aftermarket screens (from the Harris brothers and one that came with my now gone '91 851/888) and they were both a lot thicker than I'd like.
The Corse screen on my 851/916cc bikes is nice and thin, so when the time comes to replace it I'll be looking for a decent quality item that's not too thick.
I swapped my OEM '92 screen complete with it's original decals and rubber edging, for a pair of new/cheap rear sets with a forum member in Canada.

Aye Steve, the screen from Peter fits like a glove, see attatchments for the dimensions of the '88 Tricolore screen, the first of the 851's., just a pity he couldn't engineer in that wee elephant then one would never know it's a pattern.
