new breather box

I got tired of looking at the ugly large breather box that I made years ago out of cloth/resin so I recently made a new one out of .080" aluminum sheet. I made a breather spigot without a reed valve that fits in the engine crankcase (looks like a stock breather spigot). It uses 1" hose. The stock breather spigot is pictured on the outboard side of the new breather box, K&N small filter. The box is divided with a fine stainless screen to help keep the oil mist in. I have had absolutely no problem with oil mist in the K&N

Nicely done for sure! Would it have to be that big or could you cut it down slightly? Not that anyone see it while the bodywork is on just wondering? Well done though!

It is that shape because I just copied the shape of the first cloth/resin box. It was shaped like that because I then had the 851 engine in it and had to leave room for the electronics that were housed in the tail. When I put the Testastretta engine in it I no longer needed those but found that it worked great for a tool box/storage area. Tools, spare levers, tire patch kit, etc. It wouldn't have to be that large but there is plenty of room and no one sees it when the mono tail is mounted.

Horizontally. Mark, with the testastretta and being converted to the 1.6 ECU the electronics are now all in the ECU

I just got back yesterday from the USDesmo Rally in Murphy NC. Had a great ride over there with friends taking all of the back roads. The Rally ride on Sat. was good until mid afternoon when the Testastretta shredded all of the teeth off of the drive sprocket so I sat on the roadside until rescue came. I don't remember what the sprocket was. It was new but obviously not a very good quality!

I don't know of anyone who has seen that. The last drive sprocket lasted 15K miles. It was badly worn but the teeth were still on it. Must have been a crappy sprocket because it was new, chain was OK, and adjusted properly.

A mate ripped most of the teeth off an alloy rear on his 996 "Special" but.
He had been told by the seller that it had a slipper clutch, so he was just banging down through the gearbox without using the clutch...Ooops!!!
The only time I've lost any teeth on any bike (and it was only the tips from several teeth), was when a chain let go at 120+ mph on my 851/916.
I always use alloy rear sprockets except for on my winter hacks.
