henk Have another project standing, like i didn't have enough things all ready to work on. I bought a '65 panel van. Plans are to install a bigger motor, wheels and lowered it. Want to do some porsche theme signwriting on the side as well. Henk!!!
henk That has to be returned original. Also the front floor has to be lowered again because it was raised an inch for air ride. Henk!!!
Tric Very nice Henk, obviously keeping it air cooled? Restored a T2 years ago but had to let it go when I moved to Spain I have a T4 now and I can fit the bikes in, but trying to talk the girlfriend into going the old camper van route. Paul Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
brad black i saw one the other night, but a passenger with a full glass roof. it was low (and most likely slow), but not pimped as such. and a horrid dark green colour. really screwed it up imo
griff851 What is it with kombi vans all of a sudden, just been at engineering shop and got talking to a bloke while he was cleaning his stripped down engine for his T2. And there's another pale blue/ white one that keeps turning up at the local shop. Then the light green/ white one near where I drop the daughter off for gym. Lunatics are everywhere! They do go well with porche engines in them but. The bloke I was talking to says the big thing is to give them a new paint job, but make it look like old paint work.
STANG Saw this one last year, can't remember if it was already Porsche engined or planned to be. I saw it on a charity classic car run that finished with a tour of Crosthwaite & Gardiner. One of the most amazing places any "petrol head" could ever go! I was surprised at first to see a VW there as they made their name on much more exotic metal, but there was quite a lot more "normal" stuff there.
Mr.R I can't add to this thread other than to recall my many happy memories... My Father took us on a 6 week tour of Europe in his original early 60's Green/White split screen VW camper van in '68, a couple of years later we went for 8 weeks in his bay screen Light Blue/White VW camper. Very happy memories for me and my Mother (now 85 years old), Father's now loong gone but not forgotten. Mother was only saying just the other day how lucky she was to have had such an adventurous husband. They also toured across North Africa/the Sahara in the Blue/White one, as well as down to the Greek Islands twice. It's hard to beat an original VW Camper van IMO. Steve R
