I've had a search, but there's nothing conclusive. Is an ST4S speedo drive compatible with the 851 speedo. I want to use the ST4S front wheel, axle and speedo drive with the 851 speedo. Cheers.. Mick

Are you going to use the ST4S front wheel with your original forks or with a 25mm axle?

If going with a 25mm front axle, here is what you have to do.

The 851/888 speedo drive is for the Veglia gauges. ALL the 25mm speedo drives are for CEV gauges and have a different ratio.
But there is a fix. The last of the carbed 900SS had a speedo drive that was the same physical size as the later 25mm drives, but were still Veglia ratio.
So you can pull the gears and swap them into a 25mm drive.

You need to order part number 49810051A

Then swap out the gears as shown. Then you will have a Veglia 25mm drive.

Is that part number 49810051A for the 851/888 20mm Veglia speedo drive or for newer 25mm CEV drive ?

I am asking as I need the 20mm Veglia speedo :-)

Removal of speedo gear shaft

How do you remove the gear shaft with out damaging the thread, its only soft Brass by the look of it so is there a knack, anyone.

Once you drive the pin out, I thread the cable housing onto it and use that to pull it out
