I am new to this bulletin board, based in the Netherlands, and recently got my hands on a nice unspoiled 1992 851. The bike was part of a batch of bikes (mostly BMW's) which included a 916 and 851. As the owner passed away, the family sold the bikes as a group to a trader in the Netherland. That's where I found it. It has collected 35.000km's, is truly original and... I thought lets transition it into a 888 Corse replica.
This is how it looked when I bought it:
So started collecting cool parts, like NOS Ohlins front suspension, Marvic Piuma Magnesium rims, Brembo Corse rotors & Corse calipers. Pretty cool stuff and also bought a tuned 14kms ST4S donor bike, from an ex BOTT champion in the Netherlands, with a very strong 996 engine...

This is when I realized....hold on, this isn't logic. I have just purchased a very nice original 851 which just needs a very little love&tender&care and then can reside for the rest of my life time in my collection :-)
...and since I already have so many parts laying around...lets find a second frame and build a brutal hardcore 888 Corse replica from all the other parts...so thats the plan for the coming months...will keep you posted 😎
To be continued...
