Mr.R
Hi again Terry,
Back in '91 I'd a young family and thoughts of buying any new bike was beyond me, however I did still own 8 bikes inc' my (still owned from new) '79 900SS and Terry Beckett tuned '87 spec YPVS 350 Yamaha "proddy" racer. I hit 137 mph on this bike at the Elvington Sprint, not bad for a bike still running it's airbox, standard carbs and exhaust system.
Still to this day two of the best/most fun bikes I've ever owned.
I remember walking along the Euston Rd with my little boys on my way to London Zoo one sunny Sunday morning, Pat* (who's now 22, 6' 4" and at least 20 stone) was in his push chair and a 851 went past, I thought WOW I'd love one of those, maybe one day???
I've now owned and been playing around with my '92 851 for 16+ years and recently sold on my "spare" 851/888.
*He's currently living in the Holloway Rd, studying for his Masters in Mechanical Engineering at the City of London University.
My Father RIP place of birth was registered as Holloway (not the women's prison!) back in the early 20's.
