Hi all
Is it just me. Think bit poor taste banging on about the BMW anniversary of last win.
With it links to Germany government of the day,
With D day celebrations this weekend,

TBH chap I feel quite pleased for BMW finally getting another win after 75 years and thoughts of the D-Day commemoration (note that word it's not a celebration) or Germany's part in it never crossed my mind because of the BMW win.
However thoughts of the D-Day anniversary are never far away from my mind, my Uncle George (my late Fathers brother) was 19 years old on the 1st of June '44 and so went up Sword Beach with the Suffolk's supporting the Canadian's in the 1st wave.
He's now 89 years old, a former sec' of the Vet's Association, but sadly too frail to make the trip to Normandy now although he used to go almost every year.
I might add here that although he saw terrible times in the campaign, fighting all the way to Germany, he's never hated the Germans or blamed all of them for what the Nazi's did, in fact he holds admiration for most of the troops he fought and over the passing years he's met quite a few of them.
My late Father was a veteran of Arnhem was much the same, he never showed any bitterness even when he took me to Arnhem to pay his respects to his fallen comrades.
I've found this to be the case with 99% of the veterans I've met in my life, in fact the only two who differed were a former POW of the Japanese and a chap who was captured in the fierce fighting/rear guard action at Dunkirk then shot and bayoneted along with his comrades and left for dead.

If I can add to Mr R's comment that it is a commemoration not celebration. It is also for ALL the fallen dead, from both sides. We pay respect, we dont hold grudges. Post Germany has developed into one of the finest examples of how we should all live. So, due respect to BMW all the way.

PS. I get the link you make to the germany of the day... but then Japan and Italy picked a side to. Not ours. So I guess we should ban coverage of Honda, kawasaki, ducati, MV etc etc.? Not knocking you Andy, its worth a look at that question to see how far we have come in just 70 years. The TT is an amazing example of how different nations and languages can come together in celebration of life and the achievements of individuals excelling. If only our politicians could find a way to run our lives in the same manner.

I've missed this years TT but have been to more than I can (almost) remember, there's always lots of motorcyclists from almost every corner of the globe there and we always get on well together, enjoying our common passion for bikes and bike racing on the Worlds most challenging circuit.

There'd have been no possible links to the German government of 75 years ago if itv had done their research and didn't use a pair of ill informed ex racers to commentate on the tt. Bmw won three tt races in the last twenty years with the late great Dave Morris riding a modified and tuned bmw single. He was even sponsored by BMW so although Dave tuned the bike himself and to an incredible level, it was a BMW and he has more tt BMW wins to his name than all other bmw tt winners put together until this week!

Interesting thoughts. thats the beauty of biking...it brings people together.
