888 from the Netherlands

I own her now for more then 6 years, but I still love her.
Over the years lot's of things where changed, so also this winter...

New exchausts, higher, bigger, louder.. and a carbon under tail. 😄

all other modifications?
- magnesium rims
- carbon front and rear fender
- carbon instrument paner
- carbon front sprocket cover, including the crankcase protection plate
- carbon half moon clutch cover
- rear break from the SSL, with carbon reaction rot
- 14/38T sprockets
- 996 front break
- tuned heads (biggelaar)
- re-programmable EPROM (via diagnostic interface)
- lucas footpegs
- hyperpro front spring

my rear shock was also a hyperpro, but as it leaked, I'm currently using an original.

still on the wish list,
carbon SP seat (I'm working on it)
complete carbon fearing
50mm exchaust
dual injection per cylinder (SP)

Nice looking bike but it would look better with a single seat conversion IMHO.
So what did Biggelaar do to the heads bigger valves, porting, skimming, reshaped combustion chambers etc??
I hope you know that unless the motors putting out over 130rwbhp it doesn't actually need twin injectors per cylinder, as the later green injectors are upto making 65 rwbhp each.

Steve, yes with an SP seat she would even look better. my summer project is to make one out of carbonfibre 😉 I already have an aftermarket made of polyester so I'll try to make a mold out of it.

about the heads, Biggelaar machined the inlet openings. made them bigger for better flow.
we didn't do anything on the valves and cams and I think I'll never going to change more to the engine.
Currently she produces 100 bhp, so for a strada that has run 129.000 km (no typo) this is oke.
As soon as I'm going to tune this to >120 bhp I know the engine will break down 🙁
with the 14/38 sprockets she's off to 190 in no time.. and in the Netherlands you loose your drivers licence when you do more then 50km/h above the allowed speed.. so faster... mmmhh nhah.
as soon as I have the SP seat ready I'll show the pictures here 😉

l talked to Ken Mcintosh when l was restoring this one ,
He said that out of the 40 made there was about 15 left,
He told me that my bike was the last of the hand built ones,
From the next bike onwards they were made on a crude production line,

l was coming back from the Phillip Island circuit after watching the Superbikes & saw what turned out to be a 1992 Superlight sitting on the side of the road,
l fell in love with the looks,

So l went to my local Ducati dealer,
Turned out there was 1 last new one available, so l snapped it up,
(l still have it)

To me the SS Ducatis looked like a Ducati should,
Especially the Superlights,....

Thats fair enough. Always fancied a yellow superlight Mk1 but they seem few and far between these days... Great collection, thanks for sharing.
