Seeking help from Italian member

i'm trying to source a new 748R piston for a customer (12220771A), and have found one (allegedly) at a place called moto competition in matera: http://www.motocompetition.it/home

they've told me via email they have one, but then wouldn't respond any further to requests for postage cost and how to pay.

if there are any italian members who could advise how best to encourage them to respond to me that would be greatly appreciated.

Funny that. I found the same thing with old racing spares. Persistence and phone calls worked with them as another bloke I know finally managed to get an invoice and the conti's he was after. Speaking Italian helps somewhat.

If the piston from Italy doesn't pan out, would a pair of used ones suffice?
Yesterday whilst surfing E-Bay I noticed a pair of 748R pistons and a pair of 748R barrels complete with pistons for sale here in the UK, both of these from the same dealer.
The price for the barrels and pistons was less than I paid for a pair of new 96mm Pistal's a few years ago now.

Mario Sassi "Mr" Old Racing Spares speaks very good English, as does his daughter* who used to help him.
*Back in 2000 his daughter was an absolute honey. 😁 She gave me a lift into town from the circuit at the WDW that year and had very good conversational English.
If only I knew then what I know now, 😏 there were trays full of 888 Corse magnesium valve inspection covers, cam support blocks etc going for peanuts back then at the autojumble in the paddock.
But all I was interested in were the replica and OEM parts for the old Bevels.
You could have built a new Roundcase bevel twin from all the parts available in the paddock.

ian gowanloch told me that he tried to do a deal with old racing spare parts to become a distributor of sorts and was promised 30% off. he agreed, but was sent an invoice with 20% off. when he questioned that, he was sent another invoice with the retail prices increased by 10%.

my old boss (a pants man of some note) had very good relationships with the moto guzzi parts suppliers in mandello del lario for many years, most of whom it seems had rather attractive daughters.

Mario is probably a great bloke, but a guy called Stefano is who you deal with. Doesn't matter now as uncle Ian came through at a similar price.
