Thanks for all of the kind comments. I have to say that if I posted close up pictures you would see all of the wear and tear this bike has gone through---but to me it is only original once. A future caretaker can decide if they wish to make it like new.
Steve - about the overflow bottle. On my bikes I normally use either a bottle strapped to the frame or the pocket molded into the Corse fairing where the turns signals go in the street bodywork. The right side pocket was use and a radiator overflow and the left side (see picture) was used for the gas vent overflow.
The last race team glassed in a pocket like the early Corse bodywork had-- but all of the later bodywork I have does not have the pockets like the early bodywork. I have both in my attic so I could go either way if I want fresh bodywork on the bike. The bodywork in the picture is the original and and was repaired so it is pretty heavy.
The bike was crashed a Road Atlanta in '94 when Brad Hazen who bought it from Ferracci decided to mix it up down the straight with Mick Doohan younger brother and they both crashed hard. Ferracci provided a new frame and the factory aluminum works tag was riveted on the new frame along with a new 955 homologation sticker but by that time the AMA banned Brad Hazen from racing that year-- so he sold the bike in parts.
This is why it does not have the original carbon brake rotors- the buyer could not afford all of the part. I have the parts list and prices-- Brad only wanted $300 for the rotors. I had a set of the deep offset narrow band rotors on my other 955 AMA bike and transferred them to this bike-- so it looks like Picots '93 AMA bike.
One day I will find the correct carbon rotors-- which I heard were sold back to Ferracci (or they had a spare set which I never saw when I explored his back room looking for parts for many years) and then about five years ago (probably longer) a gentleman in Europe bought them and installed them on his street bike.
There are many rare Corse parts on street bikes these days.
Yes I will install a rubber boot on the on/off switch-- I have not gotten that far.
If anyone is interested- I posted a few more short shaky video's showing the rest of my Corse's- two of which I have owned and tracked since '97
---- Note the snazzy leathers and helmet in my Avatar- this picture was taken in '97.
