The 888 relaxing in the warm Georgia sunshine at the start of the race weekend. Fun racing, good results - finished second to Chris Boy of Moto Corse in Florida by two-tenths of a second, then turned the tables on Sunday for the win by about two one-hundredths of a second!

What bike is Chris riding this season? He had asked me last month if I was wanting to sell one of mine or if I knew any Corse's for sale. He sent me some pictures of ones he had bought or was hoping to buy. I commented on them but he never wrote back.

It was a 92 851. Motor was stockish but he had the full Ohlins front end with the brembo monoblocs up front, Ohlins shock, carbon tank, light wheels, etc. I had motor on him, but I'm also 8" taller and 50 lbs heavier than he is so I needed it.

BTW, just saw the official margin of victory on My Laps: 0.012 seconds!

FWIW. put some stompgrips on the tank, it really helped mine.

P.S. What about that RC 30 that you were battling last year, was he there?

I've tried Stompgrips and other types of tank grips before and just don't like them. I have a 36" inseam, so I'm pretty locked-in on the bike as it is.

The RC30 "sold" on eBay a month or so ago to a UK buyer for $38k. Apparently he flaked out and the bike is for sale again. Too bad, as I imagine it will end up in someone's living room rather than out on the racetrack.

Other than Chris and I on Ducatis, there was a ZX7, and GSXR, and a FZR, so a nice mix of bikes.

Hi Bill:

It's a Chinese-made carbon fiber pan for a 748/916/996 that I bought on eBay. My CF V-piece fit in the front well, and then I trimmed the side fairings to match the belly pan. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good.

I will be there with my 851. It would be fun to see if your bike can keep up with mine (I know you are a better rider, I'm talking about drag racing or power out of the corners).

You might also want to ride mine to see what a difference the 27mm offset triples make, and the 25mm Cogent Dynamics kit in the Showas.

Marvin, I'd love to, but given we just completed a 1,500 mile round trip to Roebling and back, and are leaving in just over two weeks for a 2,000 mile round trip to NOLA and back, I don't think a 1,250 mile round trip to Barber a couple of weeks after that is in the cards! Not with diesel at $4/gallon and a motorhome that gets 8 mpg!

I'd love to try your 27mm triples out, though. Why don't you machine me up a set that I can test this season on "spec?" 😎

I haven't even found time to machine up a set for my own track bike!

How did you do in NJ Mark? I was heading down to spend the day Saturday, and made it to just south of Hartford before I had to turn around at 5:30am. Shit! I saw there were only two pre-entrys for Next Gen. Is that class going to survive until next year? I'm STILL waiting for Bruce to finish my motor, and am dead in the water until it's done. Anyone else on the forum make it? Marvin?

Hi Bill,

No, I gave up on that pipe dream a long time ago. That's why I sold my SPS cams to Mark H. No time, no money. One of our forum members did ask about it but wanted a turn key race bike for 3 or 4K ! I was trying to sell it, not loose 4K and turn into a race donor! I'll pour gasoline on it and torch it before I loose that much money!
