By the way another mate has just taken out the BEARs open 2 valve championship on his 900 F1, as well as Formula 1 championship on his Yammy 1000, he got notification on Saturday. 45 years old. He'll be going up to A grade next year. Never too late to start I guess.

Have done it plenty of times on a 900SS and RSV1000, haven't had the 888 there yet. Best track I have been on.

BUT what you want to try is Oulton Park or Cadwell... Scary exiting corner and a stupid long straight try Portimao.

Ran off at first corner once on the RSV after coming up on 3 slower bikes spread across the turn, touched the front brake slightly to try and wipe off speed was enough to push me too wide. Managed to keep it upright in the grass and stop just before the table drain. Shit happens fast at those speeds, the RSV had a lap timer and I would never remember to push the button as I went under bridge on the main straight, too much going on for the brain at those speeds..moved my start/stop point to a slower part of the track and never forgot and that was when I was a lot younger. Also turn 12 was important to get right, it was embarrassing getting passed by older and slower bikes down the main strait if you didn't get it right. Its such a fast flowing track... I was also T-boned at Honda corner once, 900SS written off and was stiff and sore for a few days but my neck is paying the price for it now... Great memories....

Was a few years ago when I was there, I think I remember them having a test point but I never had any problems with the 900SS withTermis or the RSV with race can.

No problems with noise, I wear ear plugs!!!!

A few of the guys did mention it was loud, the induction roar was so different to other bikes there that day. I ran the open air intake. Still cant believe how quick the 888 red-lines, it just screams through the gears.

Probably the most enjoyable aspect of riding the 888 at PI was actually the lack of HP. It was so good to be able to absolutely thrash a bike without living on the edge of a highside. The 888 just has not got the raw HP to spin-up at the high speeds on PI, along the grip level. You could wind on the throttle so much harder, so much earlier in corners, so much fun! If I did the same on my 1098, I would be on my arse.....

I find Turn 1 is the most intimidating corner at PI. Trouble is, its all in your head. The self preservation mode clicks in and I back off, only to wind power back on just after I have started the initial turn-in because you can get through there so much faster than you think.

Did you race this in the PI International Classics earlier this year? I saw an 888 out there in P6 that I was competing in.

Nah, wasn't me. My 888 is a little bit too precious to race....... was just a track day. First time I have had the 888 on a track.
