Nattyboy
ould appreciate any input on my situation.
Basically, I had a letter posted this morning - in French - that would seem to indicate I was (motorway) speeding in a rental car in November 2012 and has a nice round number of 140 on it (wouldnt mind but I was driving like a girl because I had a colleague in the car! Cant have been over very much).
So - file it, or is this a bad idea in peoples experience ? I travel to France on business a couple of times a year. The letter was not signed for.
Thanks in advance.

This can get messy. As yer man said pay up. My mates 80 euro fine turned into 1000 euro after "admin "costs and took ages !!

I would file it, had similar experience from trips to Assen these past few years without any further problems..
It's the on the spot fines in europe that hurt, been visiting Le Mans since the 80's, back then you could blast down an A road at sensible speed whilst showing respect for the many villages and towns without fear of a ticket. These days go above 60mph within a 50 mile radius of Le Mans at race meeting time and you can expect a heavy fine especially with an English plate.
