Whats all this surplus stuff on modern bikes?

Stripped my carbie KTM 950 down today and fitted an XBikes race filter, new jets, needles and opened up the airbox.

Oh and while I was there I took all this epc and sas stuff off

Phew what a difference and wish I had done it before, real mid range rush added

Seems like all this clobber just slows it down and adds weight

It's just an environmental device to reduce pollution.

Even more weight saving and faster faster on my KTM

Took the plunge and following the wicked improvements with jets, airbox and stripping off the epc/sas stuff..

I dumped the silencers/header today + the in built cats and fitted some s/h Ako Ti kit

Old cans weigh 4943g (each!) and the new ones 1877g

Cannot really say how much better it is as the roads were wet and covered in leaves today

But certainly sounds the dogs

+ the Ti cans are cold(ish) to the touch so the originals must have been working really hard to try and get the stifled exhaust gases through the cats and out the end
