Ever wanted to know how long a set might last in a bevel road bike. Had a lot of fun and some serious long distance hauls sitting on 140-150km for hours an hours on end.( Use to cost me $62 in fuel and accomadation and $400 in speeding fines to get from brisbane to melbourne in the old days😄 )About 70,000km judging by mine. They've done 60-65,000 km in the blow bag and I reckon only about 10k left in them. Little end is flopping about a bit and big end is not brilliant. Mains and gear box bearings seem fine pre case split. Inside looks as good as the day it went together back in 85.

Well once again life has led to me screwing up. First off one should never go check things in the morning before dropping the kids off for school. The conrods are bad. So bad that after said 60-65000km the little ends have worn to the upper limit of the fit tolerance. Not the wear tolerance. Tomorrow I'll set up the dail gage to see if there is any big end slop, doesn't feel like it. So basically heaps of miles and flogging still to go.😄
Secondly I pick up my new glasses tomorrow.
So why is it my wife calls me hopeless?

Well the crank came apart and the pin and inner big end race were flogged. Rods are being rehashed by Carrillo in the US. Third gear on the lay shaft had a smashed tooth, and the gear box bearings need replacing. Not bad considering the mileage I suppose.
