Said good bye to the old girl today. We went out to test it out in the mountains to celebrate. I sat behind on the 851, and Pete after an 11 year wait and various so called bevel mechanics, finally got to find out how his bike was meant to go like. Man what a happy little vegimite he was. Bloody hell did it get up and go. They built them fast all those years ago thats for sure. Climbing up the mountain I found it to be game on rather than the just the cruise I was expectingπ. He got a slap on the wrists for touching nearly 9k on the tacho at the coffee break. π
It was pretty good watching from behind as we went past the sunday morning coffee crowd at the cafe at the top. Lots of head turning and stuff. God damn they are a beautiful thing in flight. I'd like to be able to say I enjoyed the noise, but my induction noise cuts out all but minor nuclear explosions.π
I always enjoy the bit where I go through the starting procedure. Don't kick it through, just turn on the taps, tickle, turn on key, and gently push through. The engine will be running by the time your half way through the kick. And you get this "yeh that sounds like bullshit". It get better, it idles too. Old Pete was a happy boy.
I didn't make any money on the gig, but you know what, life isn't always about that hey.
