glad someone else likes to show their Lathe😄.
Here is my Monarch 10EE that I restored a few years back-- painted it safety blue. Every part fit so matched I had to clean out paint in counter bores in order to reinstall cap heads.
Looking forward to your bars-- I made the mistake of notching my stock SP2's when I installed the mag triple trees -- you know how the corners protrude out farther on the forward corners. I am going to put it back to stock and wil tack in new sections but cannot found anyone to do black chrome-- have you found a shop that will do it?
Now then,
Mark I think that monarch of yours will be far more man' than my little Boxford.
I found it's limits the other day when machining a new cast iron back plate for a 5C collet chuck. 3 tenths of a mill cut in back gear was as much as I could get away with.
I know the one with the paint, I painted this three times to get a finish I was happy with ( I know it's only a lathe ) and the paint is still not fully hard but now it must earn it's keep !
It is however very handy to have and my space is limited.
Thanks to Marvin for the sample - one of my next / near future jobs on it is to make a batch of fuel tank fittings as per these pictured.
I pulled these picture a year or two ago and they were since lost.
Marvin I will do my very best to do them justice, though I wont be doing my own anodising !
I am eagerly waiting for a turret / capstan attachment arriving from the States.
Along with the 5C collet chuck this should make batch production much more fun !
I find making any more than 1 part with the tail stock a chore.
Mostly because I know it can be done quicker but still manually.
The clip on's are still on going, I have found a supplier of T45 tube at a good price as a friend and I are embarking on a new project building vintage race bike frames that requires T45 tube.
The exact dimensions for fork tube / tube size do not work out so that will need addressing.
I'll post pictures of the frames when I can but at the moments it's all a bit ush ush.
Their not Ducati, but it's on the cards.
Thanks Scott for the loan of the Genuine Corse clip on's, I was surprised to see they are brazed and that there is so little filler it looks more like a silver solder job.
I have not really looked for a black chrome' platter as yet, but I will when the time comes.
Steve, that's the trouble, I do spend hours in the garage. My wife is an accountant she told me last week that our electric bill is 11% more this winter than last !!
Phil.
