Thanks for the posts on the brakes guys, just thought I would give a quick update.
Ordered new Ferodo Platinum pads and whilst waiting for them decided to strip and clean the calipers. You remember from before I had bled them until I got clear fluid, but as you can see from the below when I stripped them the calipers themselves were still full of horrid black fluid.
Whilst there was no corrosion the pistons were pretty stuck and even an airline wouldn't budge a few of them, I know your not supposed to but I used grips (right on the edge) to finally twist them out. Some minor pickup to the edge but it is easily cleaned up with a very fine file.
I have an ultra sonic cleaner and it did a terrific job of cleaning up the seals, pistons and caliper bodies, this was the first clean, using diluted Simple green as the cleaning fluid.
And the caliper after cleaning about to grease and refit the seals.
I swear by this grease, it is specially designed for caliper rebuilds and is compatible with brake fluid. Keeps pistons moving freely, and reduces stiction when the calipers are hot significantly improving fade if you track your bikes.
All rebuilt with the Ferodo's, bled and ready to go.
Brakes are already better even whilst they are still bedding in, as you can see there is a much better contact area than before and they feel ok especially considering it is still on the original rubber hoses.
Since removing the wheels for new tires I noticed that the front speedo drive housing had a slight crack in it and the speedo cable rubber cover had split, so another dealer parts order including a new gas cap seal and O'ring, more on those once they arrive.
