All, just picked up a "Barn Fresh" 1990 851. One question.. in the shop manual and the somewhat used up owners manual it states Marzocchi front forks, mine has Peterson Pro Suspension and they are apparently air ajustable [air valves under caps at top of each leg] Am I on to something? thanks krw

Peterson pro is probably a suspension tuner. The M1R's do have air-bleeds under the top caps... not to necessarily adjust but to bleed out air.

If you dont have any air in the forks they will become completely stiff. Airvalves were quite common in the 80s to adjust the airpressure. Later someone must have figured out that the pressure you have in your garage (app 1 bar) is OK enough because you dont see them on newer designs
