scott 888 Vintage sounds a bit old do you not think? Ducati first produced machines post WW2, Iam up for this section but do you not think the word Classic would have been a more appropriate name. Just my thoughts Scott
Steve Works Indeed they are...I love vintage models. _________________________________ Steve Works Jacques de Loustal vintage advertising posters
griff851 Have to change the title in a year or two then as the tricolor moves into the vintage realm.
wgsvintage I think it's there. The local New England vintage road race group over the winter surprisingly (and surely grudgingly) added a new class which will actually allow '88 & '89 851's. Bill
Mr.R I think it's just a case of language or phraseology, (Lets face it, the description of the English/British and the American's being "Two Nations separated by a common language" isn't that far from the truth. The French call what we in England would call a "Classic Bike" a "Moto Ancienne" (Please excuse more poor spelling in French) which translates to Ancient Motorcycle. My '79 900SS and '74 250 Desmo are true Classic's, (IMO) but my insurance company now class my 851/888's as Classic Bikes as they're over 15 years old. The insurance company I used to use refused them because they weren't old enough by their rules. Of course I do feel/believe the 851/888's to be real Classics of design, otherwise why would I own 2 of them? It's not like they're a cheap bike to buy/or own, if you actually use them as they were intended these days. I've seen cheaper 916/996SPS sold then most people will pay for a 851 or 888 Strada and of course the 851/888 SP's are in another price range again. Steve R
