93' Monster with some 888 spice.

I bought this M900 new in 93'. I got a 94 SPO LTD the next year. The 888 I raced and crashed and then sold and moved onto racing 800/996 style bikes.

I always loved my 888. Was my first Superbike. I live about 20 minutes from FBF. I remember going to the shop summer of 94' and seeing Corsers 955 on the bench many times. One of the most intoxicating sights as a young Ducatisti.

The M900 is a 944. The motor is a super trick 944 that FBF built in 96'. The original owner was a top fuel funny car driver for Camel Smokin' Joes team. He rode his bike for about a month and crashed hard in the blue ridge mountains. Camel said no more bikes. My buddy bought the salvaged 900ss from him. I went to FBF too see the receipt for the motor and it was 7K back then . Titanium everything. I bought it and stuck it in my M900. Its a real fun ride to say the least.

Now I have quit racing I am loving my old M900 a lot more. I built hangers and hung the exhaust so it would be like an 888. ( I have a full Termi system of it of course) I got some rear sets and other trick parts to really have fun with her.

Its not an 888 but for a two valve Duc it sure is a sweet heart. Here are some pics I thought you would all enjoy:

I like it, Monsters and 851/888's do share the DNA of the era. I am going the other way and Monsterizing my 851 just a bit. LSL bar conversion, trimmed fairing. It is a bitza, ST4 cases, 748 gearbox, so no harm no foul. We build em how we like em.

I like how the exhaust comes up.....I've been looking to do that for sometime now and just havent found the right extention to my mid pipes.

it's a dp full system, although i wouldn't have expected it to have termi mufflers. from the late 90's i think, i'm sure that was from the gia.co.moto catalogue. termi never made st mufflers either. and st mufflers have a downward bend from pipe to muffler.

i do like the way it lets you change the muffler angle easily though.

I stand corrected the farne style collector and the spring make it look very ST2 looking to me

The system is actually a full Termignoni system I bought new in 94'.
The full system connects with springs like other systems. The pipes come in at the same place on both sides on the bottom center under the motor.. they are held with springs. this allows them to be angled in almost any direction actually.
These full systems for two valve Monsters are as rare as the full termi 888 systems these days. Hand crafted and really wonderful piece of Italian performance.
