1987 851 Ducati Discs required running on 16" rims

Hi I had this bike in the garage for years and need a new set of discs would anyone have any for sale or put in the right direct. What would thid bike be worth its realy clean with only 13000km on the clock please phone mark on 07799771861.

I have access to a brand new set of full floater 280mm od, 136mm id, 77mm bolt hole, no offset genuine brembo discs for a paso( pretty sure they will fit your bike, there isn't one in the shop so I can't compare) for 16" Ozcam wheels.

You wouldn't know if these are the same as used on the later 750 F1 bikes would you Griff? I've been trying to locate a genuine pair for my restoration for over a year now.

++1 on Carlo Leoncini - excellent. I know the 280 rotors are interchangeable between the '88 851's and F1b's. They do have different part numbers though. #49240011A for the '88 Kit and Strada, and #067577340 for the F1B and Montjuich. Maybe there is a slight difference in the style of the carriers, but I never noticed any.

These have a part No ending in 71A pretty sure it was 49240071A. I didn't pay much attention as its the size of the carrier center and bolt hole pattern that's the thing. Bob tells me they were brought out because the original non floaters had a run out issue because of poor machining of some of the wheels. So the quick fix sent out by the factory was the full floaters.

the 851 discs have the deep offset like an f1. yoyodyne should also have them.

The original disc part # was 067577340, which superceded to 49240011A - do you think this might have been the number your referring to?

A mate of mine recently had his 750 Laguna Seca modified to take 17" 600/750 Monster 3 spoke wheels to improve his tyre choice, by my good friend Swampy Marsh of "Marsh Performance" the top KTM tuner/race engine builder in the UK possibly the World.
Swampy had new disc centres made for not much money so the OEM front rotors and calipers could still be used.
The wheels were'nt just a bolt on affair and needed the Monster sprocket carrier modified, special spacers made for front and back wheels and the centres made up for the front discs.

but the carrier style is like the later Brembo floaters.

Otherwise if you're not bothered about originality or floatiness, and I just checked my spares box with the original discs on the bike- the fitment is the same as the 'old' 280mm discs on Ducati Hailwoods, Darmahs plus loads of other stuff. 26mm offset?

which has a gold centre and bobbins (not sure if they are for show or are really floating) and the price is not bad.

so unless you want original parts- there's loads available. But please check dimensions before you buy- there might be small deviations.

Slightly of subject but...
I've just checked out the Sports Mortorcycles link and I think that someones bought the name.
Glyn Robinson the name of the owner sounds very familiar to me and the kit he's selling looks (again) very much like that being sold by a company with another name recently.

Sports Motorcycles (Manchester) went bankrupt many years ago and Steve Wynne the former owner then traded as Sports Racing after that.

I wonder if the new owner of the name bought it from the Official Reciever or can you just name your comp' a now defunct name?

Yeah that's the guy Bill,
He fitted a pair of 4 valve Jawa speedway heads and self made barrels to a bevel motor almost 30 years ago*, I think he called it "The Rhino" you can see the bike in the pic' on his home page, it's the red one...
I've got a period mag' article/track test of the bike tucked away in my collection.

*About that time I was playing with a pair of Hesketh (Weslake) 4 valve heads on a bevel motor but the money man ran out of cash, I did end up using (bankrupt stock) Hesketh oilcoolers on the bevel race bikes inc' my own bike "Old Beverley" and it's still there today.

P.S. When we went to the sale of Bankrupt Hesketh stock we picked up a lot of the paperwork that went into the developement of the Westlake designed motors, inc' the dyno test sheets where the motors were tested to distruction...
We were stunned at how many they'd completely blown up!
