After being apart for 13 years, I was reunited with my 1992 851 which I had purchased new. Unfortunately, she was a little angry about being traded in and pitched me off on the ride home.

Thats unfortunate, at least your ok though. Bikes are easily repaired but bones take much longer to repair and are much more agro!!!! Damage looks pretty superficial.

Oh yeah, she's a definitely a keeper this time. I a great time getting reacquainted with her while doing the routine maintenance. I even sat in a chair while smoking a fine cigar and just looked at her. I am very happy to have found this site and to have been reintroduced to this machine.

Pompey, you are right! I find myself having a great time fixing the damage. I may even bid on some older Ducatis (possibly a single) in hopes of rebuilding one, as my father has done.

Guess what I'm doing right now?
My laptop's on the table and I'm looking over it through the open French/patio doors at my 851/916, supping a beer and gradually working myself upto sorting out the fitting of a Corsa clutch drum...
Talk about one mod' leading to another and another and..............

I've already dry built the clutch 3 times this morning and popped up the road to borrow some parts from my old Bevel, the Corsa clutch won't fit with a standard pressure plate, but fortunately for me my Bevel has a much modified dry clutch conversion and I'm 99% sure I can temporararily use the parts until I can machine up a standard pressure plate to do the job.
The Corsa pressure plate's has the spring pockets machined out, then these (holes) have cups that slide into them that the springs sit in.

I'm with you there Steve. I'm very curious about your bevel, a '79 900ss I believe. Are there pictures of it somewhere here, or could you post a few? One of my pets is an '80.

After an exhaustive search of EBAY and Craigslist, I have found my Ducati 250 single to restore. Believe it or not, I found it in my Dad's shed, behind the old lawnmower. He forgot that someone had given it to him. She is a 1964 or 65 250 Monza. This is going to be fun!

Yeah but Steve, a '74 250 Desmo is surely more fun to ride than a mutual fund. Probably a better investment too.

I paid £1,175 for my 250 and so far have spent around 3K inc' buying the bike, totally restored examples over here sell for 7K+...
But mines (eventually) for riding, the trouble is other projects/holidays to the IOM TT keep getting in the way.
It's just over 4 weeks until I board the ferry at Liverpool for the Island and TT2012 stopping with Tony IOM and his wife at Glen Vine which's actually on the circuit. 😎
I've just got to solder the wires to the rear light, paint the fairing* and I'm ready for the off, apart from the changing the oil and filter just before I leave.

*I finished repairing/rubbing down the carbon Corsa fairing this afternoon, the painters at my work are putting it in primer over the weekend, then I'll ride the bike in on Monday so they can mix the paint to match my single seat and tank.
For the 1st time in the bikes life it should have every panel the same shade of Red!!!!

😄 I told Chris the paintshop leading hand about your piss taking mate 😝 calling my old nail the "Tricolore" because it sported 3 different shades of Red and he said...
"Don't worry Steve they'll be all the same this year and if we're not happy with the job we'll get it in after the TT and do it again, but we'll get you there with a Red bike!"
After all it's a 20+ year old carbon race fairing that's been up the road more than once.
Whilst rubbing it down today I farted and thought it was in danger of blowing away on the breeze it's that F'kin lightweight, rubbing it down wasn't an easy job as it flexes sooo much because it's that thin.
