got2dv8 I found an alternate oil filter that works. NAPA 1352. I had been using Fram 6019 but I hate that it's chrome and I hate that it's tiny. The Napa gives more volume which is nice and protrudes so you can safety wire a clamp onto it. I also use a Scotts aluminum micron filter on my 900 that is basically a lifetime filter, but in my opinion it's not worth it because you have to use a can of cleaner to clean out the filter element every oil change. So it ends up costing money each change (although on the plus side the alum does act as a heat sink). The Napa filter is around 10 bucks ($10 usd). Robert
got2dv8 alternate oil filter update I've discovered the Napa oil filter is actually a Wix 51352. Also, the Mann W 712/9 filter works. You can usually find these online much cheaper than at the stores. Robert
Mr.R I like the idea of a larger filter with it's increased capacity, extra cooling surface and easier to get hold of/remove. But unfortunately for me my 50mm Spaghetti system stops me fitting one, unless I want to remove the full exhaust system at each oil change. Steve R
wgsvintage You might want to compare the Wix specs for the recommend filter and the one in question: Wix # 57013 (recommend for Ducati's): http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlook...asp?Part=57013 and Wix # 51352 (recommended for Simca's) http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlook...asp?Part=51352 Think I'll stick with Wix # 57013 or HiFlo # HF 153 Bill
got2dv8 Wix 57013: 20 microns 7-9psi bypass... Wix 51352: 27 microns 12psi bypass + larger volume more oil capacity (at least 2 oz) + surface area. The Wix 57013 looks exactly like the tiny Fram 6019. I'll take more volume with the similiar specs. Considering the fact that I change my oil religiously.. usually not exceeding 500 miles. Robert ps. I had no luck finding the specs on the Mann filter...
