This bike was basically a Japanese idea from the boss of Sagawa Express, in charge of transportation matters and well known in Japan.

It was a 926 cc.
Roche explained the handicap due to the lack of organisation of the team, preparation of the bike and the over weight ...

It was quite identical with the factory one, except front and lateral fairings, plus factory secrets ...
Any support from Ducati Italy ...

I noticed that the bike has roller main bearings instead of the standard angular contact ball bearings. Does anyone know the spec. of the roller bearings or have any comments on the relative merits of rollers v. balls? Would the roller bearings have been set up with endfloat or preload?

Roller bearings take greater radial loads. In other words getting on the gas, is more punishing on balls, thats why the factory changed over to them. If you have your engine striped down that far, I wouldn't hesitate to replace the angular contacts with rollers. Just take the old bearings out and go to SKF or Timkin and ask for the same bearing in a roller. There will be a number on the side of the bearing, that is the bearings part number. All bearings have this. cheaper than going through Ducati.
Use an 888 manual for installation, it will tell endflaots.

Hi,
The Corsa motors ran roller mains, I've fitted my own motor with these bearings, I had to get a sleeve/bush made up for the right hand crankcase to fit the bearing that side, as my motor is based on my "92 Strada, which has the same size mains as the later 916's etc.
Mine came in Ducati spare part bags marked Ducati Corse 955, I still have the part numbers somewhere.
I'm pretty sure I've got a couple more bearings buried amongst my cache of spares.
I used the end floats given for the 888SP4S, which had these bearings fitted.
After I built the motor, I chatted with John Hackett of JHP, (top Ducati tuner in England, who builds the factory bikes in British Superbikes) he said I'd wasted my time as the standard mains were more than good enough to take 170 rwbhp, which's a lot more than my motor puts out.

Looking through a bearing catalogue, I think I need NJ207ECP C3 and NJ307ECP C3. These have polymer cages. A brass cage option is available, but the ones in the photos look like polymer to me.

I can't make out all of the part no: on the actual bearing as it's still sealed in the original package and I don't really want to brake the seal.
But I can make out SKF NJ207.

It makes no difference to me how they choose to address themselves but their web presence is very considered so it's hard to imagine it's an oversight.
