1st track day of the year

Got to take the 851 out for the first time this year. Old and slow but I had a blast. Me, not the bike.
Here's a vid a friend took from his 1098S. I know it was painful for him to go so sloooow.

Hi Marvin,
After the IOM TT course that place looks like a Kindergarden playground.
...and the really fast lads/racers lap the TT course at 130+mph, (maxing out at over 190mph on the faster parts of the circuit, the slowest corner is a 25mph or less hairpin at Ramsey) there's a lefthander at Gingerhall that the late Great Joey Dunlop* used to lift his head to avoid the telegraph pole on the inside, the outside of this corner is a stone wall, if you managed to get airborn enough to avoid the wall it wouldn't be a problem as the large trees would stop you getting as far as the field beyond.😯

Just over a month to go to the TT, (The Worlds greatest bike racing circuit)we've still got a spare place in our billet, sell Kathryn into White slavery/or pawn her for a couple of weeks and get over there.
Please don't tell her that I wrote that mate.

*Joey reckoned that he only rode the corners at 8/10 to give himself a safety margin.

Yeah, not much different than riding here on the street. It just seems different on the track.

Pacific Raceways (used to be SIR) not the greatest for sure. I'm slow anyway so not much chance of me going airborne.😁

Hoping to get to Oregon Raceway Park this summer, which is new and very rider-friendly even if it is out in the middle of nowhere. Construction starting on a new track about 30 minutes from the house so hopefully it will be a good one. The plans look good.

New track here in the Pacific NorthWest that is sooo much better. I'll get my first opportunity to ride it on March 24th. Not only a new track, but my new track bike.
There will finally be an 851 on the WMRRA grid. Rattlecan this year. If I make it through a season and graduate from novice (big if), I may splurge for a paint job next year.

At least the new track has some run off before you get to the trees. Your first track does look you are riding on the street.

Steve-- All of the British riders I had the pleasure to run with were fearless on the street- riding like they were on the track- absolutely no fear. On the track they were beasts -.

Yep that's Seattle (Pacific Raceway). The track design is great but the run off is terrible. I don't ride there anymore, especially since they put the front straight down the pit lane...?
Of course it's still safer than Mission raceway in BC!

2nd track day at The Ridge with '92 851. Still haven't gotten the '91 on the track yet. Rebuilding forks and rear shock. Track day April 27th and racing 28/29 April. Really looking forward to getting the other 851 out there.
