It's been a while since I was here. Why you may ask? Well I'm working on a complete unique new Ducati race bike which is build from the ground up. It will be basically an 888 look (Roche) and a testastretta 999x engine (3 nines), (x for xtra heavily modified). That why I called the project Ducati TriNoveRoche.

During the last 2 race seasons it got more and more difficult to keep up with the new Ducati's so that's why I try to go up from 120 HP to over 160HP with the new bike. But most of all its just great fun building something unique that will hopefully also function in the near future. And as I'm a real 888 addict the looks were supposed to remain the same.

The intention was to get the bike race ready for the 2011 season but due some setbacks it will be most likely that it will be ready mid 2011. (I hope) Anyway still got the old 888 racer at hand so racing will still continue this season.

160bhp in a 888 frame???😯

The factory Corse 926's were "only" making around 140rwbhp and they thought that they'd got to the limit of power that the frame/Crankcase mounted swingingarm could handle.

Aha, your quite right that's why we made a different construction for the 888 swingarm to the engine casing and frame. I just realised that I put a picture of the construction in progress in the 'nieuws' page of the site in stead of the specific project page. I'll correct this asap.

Well the project is coming slowly along now. After all the bike has to be on the track by april 2012.
My older 888 is throwing out a lot of oil trough the breather so that is the next project after this one.

Not to sure about the modern Desmo rep paintwork.

Last time I was at the Assen MotoGP we all stayed in Groningen - and was astounded not by the bikes but at the 100's of 6 foot blondes riding around on cycles! - Lucky man to live there!

The color of this bike had to be somewhat unique. I love the Ducati motoGP '08 Marlboro style but it was hard to get the color matching. The painter and me only got one or two pictures to go on. And the bicycle of my 6 year old.

About the bicycle: I bought my son a second hand-as-good-as-new bicycle which had a red orange metallic color. (Saw it on the internet) I immediately fell for the color and then the bicycle. When I got to the painter guy I took the bike along to improve the understanding about the picture of the duc'08. The painter made a sample which looked neat in direct sunlight. Bright orange red with a yellowish sparkle where the sun hits the paint and a reddish color in the shadow.
When the painting was finished with the bike I initially thought the color had turned out to orange like. But with the chrome striping it all turns out just fine. Anyway I has the be an unique ducati anyway. Also my wife can recognize me again when I pass the pit lane a full speed. In previous years I had a very pronounced black white finish flag style stickering on the older 888 and she could recognize me from miles away. 2 years back I changed the layout on the fairing but she wasn't to enthusiastic about it. As I now was one of all the other Duc's racing by....

Thanx it only took me a lot longer than expected.
But that is mainly due to the fact that I try to make all the original parts in carbon myself. It's fun but usually takes a few tries.
Half a year ago I saw somewhere in Germany carbon valve covers for the 999 () so that should be the next big project.
Although I found a small chinese factory near HongKong which can produces items a lot faster and even of better quality than my own stuff. As an experiment I had them made the 999 carbon battery box which is on the left front side. And I was really impressed with their making. It only took them 6 weeks and an old battery box as an example. (at 115 a piece) So I'm thinking of sending them a valve cover and have them make 2 for me.

We'll the project is finished! After 18 months of labour. The newly born raced last weekend for the first time. And what a power on board. Better than the 888 (of course). But have to setup the suspension better because the 888 went better (faster) around the corner than the TNR. Look here for some info.

Now working again on the 888. Just had the cylinders newly coated on the inside due to damaged crankshaft last year and the resulting high oil consumption. This will be the (spare) rain bike in the coming race season.

Final performance figures available.
I went to the test bench (dyno) yesterday. Same bench on which the "old" 888 was tested over the years. Until now I did my own ECU/PCIII setting with an AFR device. But it is too crude to actually get the best out of the machine. On the test bench we finally managed to get 5 extra Hp and 5 extra Nm out of the 999 engine. Performance wise runs better with the dB killers then without
157 Hp and 123 Nm was the end result.

Funny thing though I've driven faster on the 888 then on the TNR until now. So much for Hp!

F'ck me that's impressive, I can't imagine what it's like to ride a 851/888 with that sort of power?
