Hello boys,
I'm from Italy and I'm the owner of an 851 sp2 rebuilt in corsa version form the previous owner during 1990 and 1991. The bike present all the factory parts used until 1991. I bought from the wife of the previous owner some years ago and it was in the same conditions as now. Never restored or painted, only a workshop control to check engine. Also the engine is a corsa version, the crankcases are not the sp2 but the corsa version and during a control I looked inside the engine from alternator case, spark plugs, and valve covers and all confirmed corsa parts.
The story of the bike is not very clear, the previous owner was the first and only owner of the bike before me but he suffered of alzheimer disease so the wife sold the bike to me for money. She remember only some things about the bike, but she give me the property certificate. I checked the frame number and ducati confirmed that in the origin it was an sp2 built 11/1/1990.
The strange fact is that some more experts of ducati than me sayd that the bike is very particular because present all factory corsa parts until 1991 season. So it's strange that someone bought an sp2 bike in the 1990 to convert in a corsa bike, spending perhaps more money than bough a roche replica or a corsa bike in the some years.
Now I use the bike only in some track day and it gave me a lot of satisfaction.
