Round 3 Frustrating carbon + electronics!

The week started as do most of my weeks with trying to finish of certain projects and thinking about others that are pending. Well it's Friday night now and I am starting to get real 'cheesed-off' with my attempts at making a proto type bracket for the Ohlins remote ride height adjuster, fitted to the 1994 race machines.

This all began when I was recently contacted by a fellow forum user who enquired about the prior mentioned strap. I managed to obtain a few pictures from a different forum member who also agreed to fit and trial it for me, he also said that he would send me photographs and critique once he had it fitted to his machine...all fairly straight forward so far...

...This reservoir is 35mm diameter, my brain switched off as I began the process, I was happy with the result of my work. I trimmed the part down ready to start doing the final finish and looked at the internal diameter. It didn't quite look right, so out with the digital vernier, which confirmed that my eyes were not deceiving me, the internal diameter was 30mm! 😱

So immediately at 10.30pm on Wednesday I go hunting for something that is 35mm diameter and cylindrical, I should have gone to sleep and started in the morning, but I grapped what I measured as 35mm and proceeded to start the whole process again. By the time the item was dry and ready to trim is was now Friday afternoon. Out with the Vernier and I check for 35mm,😯 40mm!

Well it is now Saturday lunch-time and I have just fixed the dodgy connector in my computer transformer which caused it all to go off yesterday...Uuurgh! 😡 I have returned home from my quest with new batteries for my digital vernier and 35mm extruded aluminium tube so here goes again. The third attempt at this clamp should be ready on Sunday. 😎

P.S. If anybody needs a 30mm or 40mm carbon bracket with an inserted aluminium threaded section at 90degrees to the clamping tab, then I may be in a position to help.

By an amazing coincidence I have just purchased some aim -1347/a24b rocket pods from ebay (I think I have solved the slow moving vehicle issue that occurs going up the mountain), and they will be perfect!
Do you have 8 available in 40mm?😁 😁

Hi Griff great news you getting them rockets...I have not seen the newer model since they up dated the aim-1347/a24's, they were good but smaller with a diameter of 35mm. Those updated 40mm diameter babies ought to get you really flying.

On another note, when measuring things with a digital vernier make sure that you are not tired and that you have a good battery, otherwise 35mm measures as 30mm and 40mm measures as 35mm...what a waste of my time the last few days! 😏
