Cafe Racer Project at last - What Tyres?

Managed to grab some time at the weekend and a few stolen hours today.
Cleaning and cleaning the grp gunk out of the carbs and swilling through the coated tank and a general fiddle.

Standard motor. 2 into 2 larger pipes and cheap but very loud megas. Open bell mouths and jets up 30% over standard (130's) Original spec was a huge 36Hp ....so must be at least 38 now😯

Have not had a full blast yet but seems to be fuelling well, a bit more carb balancing and setting tickovers but I will wait and give her a run first.

Hopelessly uncomfortable but really really light (standard bike in full metal + fairing was 130kg)

Any thoughts on tyres out there? Front is crazed and has to go.
Fitted now are Dunlop K630 130/80 and 100/80 - 16 inch
The rear seems to have a lot of sidewall and looks unbalanced with the front.

Bit rusty on tyre options

I thought there was a supply issue with 16" rubber...or is that just for the Paso boys?

Thanks Brad for the comments,

I have been though with the local wholesaler (we are lucky to have the UKs largest just down the road and deal direct with local bikers.

Options limited and the P Demons don't offer a good option on the rear.

Seems like my best bet is a pair of the Bridgestone BT 45's both in 90 not 80 fit that should be OK.

They are in stock so that helps a lot and I can pick up in the morning

I have a MOT booked next week so fingers crossed

Just for fun really, initially was intended for my Helen but its ended up a bit radical and the clip ons are miles away 😄

Should be great fun on out little Welsh B roads

Very cool bike!
I guess its hard with the 16" wheels.
I prefer Avon´s on my classics (they are 18" though)

Well she certainly brings back happy memories of riding flat out everywhere on 250 two and four strokes just a few...well a lot of years ago now.

Fuelling seems spot on now, no flat spots and pulls like a 250 should right to the redline, handling is sweet, riding position is crippling. I had forgotten that with a long cafe racer tank its hard to look behind without taking both hands off the bars😯 Must get a bar end mirror to compliment the no indicators/no over shoulder view to safe overtaking

Noise is beyond fun I think, cruising in top at 60mph and 6,000 odd is just bearable, drop it down two gears and scream and it has everybodies attention.

Have had to adjust my 1/2 finger cover on the brake lever approach as the other fingers just get crushed and nothing really happens at all, might need to invest in a master off a single disc supermoto or something

Had a friend over yesterday and he went for a blast, came back with a huge grin and said he felt 16 again and loved it.

What next I wonder
